Bio
Patrick Rooney is a composer, arranger, and conductor who strives to explore emotion, nature, and imagination while inspiring and connecting with others through his music. Patrick’s compositions utilize techniques and styles from the past and present creating colorful, expressive, and innovative music with rich harmonies. Though primarily focused on choral music, Mr. Rooney enjoys composing and arranging for various genres and ensemble types; seeking to create music that is approachable and exciting.
Mr. Rooney is a prize-winning composer, winning the Ars Nova Singers Colorado Composers competition and Imagine Music Publishing’s Pathways Series Contest. As a conductor, Patrick has conducted his work in Europe and the United States. In this capacity, he values the opportunity to invite performers to make music with him in an effort that can affect emotion and ultimately, personal and societal change.
Patrick’s music has been performed in American and European venues, including St. Peter’s Basilica, by various professional, university, high school, and community choirs and performers.
Patrick grew up in Denver, Colorado spending three and a half years studying music composition and voice at the University of Northern Colorado. After moving to Portland, Oregon, Patrick enrolled at Portland State University where he completed his Bachelor of Music in Composition.
